This Week at Agape ICA (21-Dec-2009)

What a marvelous Christmas Service we had on Sunday afternoon! The Mandarin- and English-speaking congregations combined at 2pm to enjoy a "Coming Home For Christmas" service. Our extremely talented staff had transformed the sanctuary into a home, with a mock fireplace, beautifully trimmed mantel and Christmas tree, and cozy seating. Throughout the room were photos of our Agape family, many of whom have returned to their home countries or moved on to other countries, but who remain dear to us at Agape. There was storytelling by Pastor Fari Rider, games, caroling, and lots of food.

Pastor Leid and Kay are now in the Bay Area of California for two months leave with their family and will return the middle of Chinese New Year. Please keep them in your prayers as they both recover from recent challenges with their health.

WEDNESDAY, December 23, 2009

No Wednesday Night Bible Study this week. Each week Jerry Petway will direct the Bible Study while Pastor Leid is in the USA. We need more people to attend this class. This class has open enrollment so you can join any Wednesday night. Plan to join us next week in this spiritual quest for renewed life in God.

FRIDAY, December 25, 2009

  • Birthday Party for Jesus from 10am to 1pm on the 3rd floor, AG Center. Kelly Levitsky is coordinating this very special event, with assistance from Wendy Chen and Jennifer Chau, and is open to all parents and their children aged 8 and below. There will be a presentation of the Christmas story, songs and finger plays, party games and a snowflake ornament craft, followed by a light lunch. To reserve your spot, call Kelly Levitsky at 0916-641-144 or Wendy Chen at 2598-1009.
  • Adult English Learners Outreach from 7 - 9 PM on the 3rd floor of the AG Center. Dora Hsu, Wendy Chen, Leo Huang, and Jerry Petway are the teachers. This week the group will continue with vowel sounds and blending sounds. Grammar includes: Oral reading, dictation, and games.
  • No Power House Prayer Meeting until January 8th due to the 4th Sunday of December being Christmas Day.

    Children's English Outreach This outreach is for children 5 - 8 years old, and is held every Saturday from 2 - 4 PM on the 3rd floor of the AG Center. The class is growing and new children are attending. Why not bring your small children to join this class. All Mandarin speaking children, 5 - 8 years old, are invited to join these classes.   • Agape Morning Service in Mandarin This growing congregation of Mandarin speakers meets every Sunday morning from 10am to 12pm on the 3rd floor, AG Center. This Sunday, Pastor Fari Rider will minister the word of God. Fari is the director of Children's Lane, and is a gifted speaker and teacher.   • Agape Afternoon Service in English Join us for a lively time of worship and the Word every Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm, 3F AG Center. This Sunday we have Wendy Yu bringing us a special message while Pastor Leid and Sister Kay are on leave to visit their family. Join us this Sunday and bring a friend!
