God's ears are attentive to us, but are we attentive to God?

When our oldest son, Chris, was about four years old Kay became concerned because he did not seem to hear what she was saying. One day she came to me and said, “We need to take Chris to an ear doctor to have his ears checked."

I asked, “Why?"

She said, “He can’t seem to hear me.”

I answered, “His hearing seems good to me.” I told her to call him and keep him in the kitchen.

I went into the living room and whispered, “Chris, I have candy for you.”

He came running into the living room with a bright smile, reaching out for the candy.

Well, that simple test saved a big doctor bill, and proved his hearing was good. His obedience had lapsed, as he only heard what he wanted to hear, but his hearing was good. He also could hear his mother clearly after that.

Have you checked your spiritual hearing recently? Here is a check list for spiritual hearing:

1. Do I like to hear the voice of God?
2. Do I recognize the voice of God?
3. Do I hear the Word of God when it speaks to me?
4. Am I too busy to stop and hear God?
5. Do I change because of what I hear, and act on what I hear?

People have all kinds of ears: big, small, pointed, pierced, closed, infected, cut off, and floppy. But they were all created to hear with!

Some people have to get hearing aids. Hearing aids test people’s patience but they work.

• Being in the Spirit on the Lord’s day helps. Rev. 1:10
• Will to have an ear to hear what the Spirit says. Rev. 2:17
• Be ready to hear from God at all times. Rev. 6:1
• Tune your frequency to heaven. Rev. 12:10
• Learn to listen to angels that cry with a loud voice. Rev. 14:15
• Understand heavens language. Rev. 19:6
• Be quick to obey what you hear. Rev. 22:18
• Conclude your hearing with worship. Rev. 22:8
