Harry Says, "Spend Time With Your Best"

A teaching by John Maxwell

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves. Mark 9:2

Years ago I learned the Pareto Principle and began applying it to my life. It's a useful tool for determining priorities for any person's life or for any organization.

The Pareto Principle

20 percent of your priorities will give you 80 percent of your production, IF you spend your time, energy, money, and personnel on the top 20 percent of your priorities.

Every leader needs to understand the Pareto Principle in the area of people oversight and leadership. For example, 20 percent of the people in an organization will be responsible for 80 percent of the company's success. The following strategy will enable a leader to increase the productivity of an organization.

Determine which people are the top 20 percent producers. Spend 80 percent of your "people time" with the top 20 percent. Spend 80 percent of your personal development dollars on the top 20 percent.
Ask the top 20 percent to do on-the-job training for the next 20 percent.

Developing the Leader Within You from John Maxwell

Pastor Leid here. God gives all of us the ability to be developed into leaders in His Church. Leadership begins with a small seed, then comes the sibling tree, and finally the branches. Next comes the leaves and the buds. Finally, after God applies the sunshine, the fruit begin to develop. We nurture it until it is ripe, and then pick it to share with others. This is the way leadership grows. In a church with a mobile congregation such as in an ICA Church, this process must be speeded up to provide top leadership. I believe the Pareto Principle is working in all five units of Agape ICA, Taipei.
