Harry Says, "Thoughts"
Proverbs 11:25, "A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."
In our Midweek News Briefs I quoted this scripture under "Thoughts of Help Make You A Better Person".
Thoughts, thoughts, thoughts--we have all had thousands of thoughts this past week. Some of them have been marvelous, some spiritual, some worthless, some gracious, some hurtful, some helpful, some destructive, some blessed, and some hopeless, and most helpful.
Our thoughts possibly have made us happy, sad, remorseful, angry, upset, peaceful, blessed, or downright upset with ourselves.
If our thought life plays such an important part in our life, what can we do to make sure we have the right kind of thought life?
Understand there are two types of minds:
The Carnal Self-Filled Mind
Romans 8:6, "The mind of sinful man is death."
Romans 8:7, "The sinful mind is hostile to God."
2 Corinthians 4:4, "The God of this age has blinded their minds."
The Spiritual Mind
Colossians 3:2, "Set your mind on things above."
Hebrews 8:10, "I will put my laws in their mind."
Hebrews 10:16, "... and I will write them on their mind."
Romans 12:2, "By the renewing of your mind."
Ephesians 4:23, "... to be made new in the attitude of your minds."
Remember: What is in our minds develops our "attitudes."
It is possible to fool everyone but God about what is in your minds and what your true attitude is.
Revelations 2:23, "...then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds."
Romans 8:5, "Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace."
Our thoughts can be likened to our kitchen where we prepare food. Some minds are like a beautiful fruit salad ready to be spread out for everyone to enjoy. Other people's minds are like garbage cans. We hope they will never take the lid off their mind as we know it is filled with filth.
This week: Put on the mind of Christ! Think, act, and be like the Lord Jesus Christ!
