Discover Your Uniqueness to Reach the Lord
The following message was preached by Senior Pastor Harry L. Leid at Chosen Ones' Fifth Anniversary celebration on March 11th. You can listen to a recording of the message at www.chosenonesica.org
Psalm 46:10, 11, "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge." (KJV)
Psalm 46:10, 11, "Cease striving and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us, The God of Jacob is our stronghold." (NASV)
Psalm 46:10, 11, "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."
Our uniqueness: unlike any other, one of a kind.
- In the Natural: There are so many things that we possess in the natural that are ours’ and ours’ alone. No one else has my set of hereditary genes, no one else has my individual set of finger prints, look where you may, but you will not find another smile just like mine. Look as far as you can but you will not find anyone with a brain just like mine, nor will you find a set of teeth that exactly match mine.
- In the Spiritual: I am a unique spiritual being. We all love the Lord in the same way but each one of us have a unique love for God that is ours alone.
- There is one common uniqueness that we all possess and that is "trust in God".
- The psalmist tells us "God is Our Refuge and Strength, A Very Present Help in Trouble." (Psalm 46:1)
- Result: Therefore we will not fear, though the waters roar and foam. Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. (verse 3)
- Our Source: There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High. (verse 4)
- Our Strength: God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. (verse 5)
- Causes of fear: The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered (verse 6)
- Our Source of Assurance: Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has wrought desolations in the earth. He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire. (Verses 8,9)
- The psalmist tells us "God is Our Refuge and Strength, A Very Present Help in Trouble." (Psalm 46:1)
- Now We Apply Trust!
- Cease striving, be still, and know that I am God. (verse 10)
- Know that God is your strength, and He will be exalted among the nations, and in the earth. (verse 10)
- Know that God is Omnipresent. The Lord is with us. (verse 11)
- Know that God is Omnipotent. The God of Jacob is our stronghold. (verse 11)
Conclusion: Your uniqueness in trust in God is your answer to fear, loneliness, sadness.
